Before entering private practice, Jerry served for 25 years as a Regional Director for the New York State Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). As Regional Director of MFCU’s nine-county Rochester Office, Jerry directed the investigation and prosecution of white-collar fraud involving the New York State Medicaid program and third parties insurers. Jerry also investigated and prosecuted allegations of abuse and neglect in health care facilities. Jerry worked closely with and coordinated investigations with members of United States Department of Health and Human Services, the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Department of Justice, and other investigative agencies. Jerry also worked closely with health care providers and their counsel on “self-referrals” to MFCU. He spent time supervising the Buffalo and Syracuse Regional Offices. Before he became a MFCU Regional Director, Jerry served for 13 years as an Assistant District Attorney and Bureau Chief for the Erie County District Attorney, where he prosecuted major crimes.
- Represented pharmacies in a records and controlled substances inventory audit by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
- Represented the former owner of an Adult Home, charged in an indictment by the New York State Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit with the theft from a resident. Obtained a dismissal of the indictment and settled the matter civilly.
- Currently representing several Medicaid providers in various investigations by the New York State Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
- Conducted training to residential health care facilities on Patient Abuse, Neglect and Mistreatment
