Barclay Damon Lands Energy Industry Veteran Paul Corey

Barclay Damon announces Paul Corey, partner, has joined Barclay Damon’s Regulatory and Energy Practice Areas. His primary office location is New Haven.

Corey has over two decades of experience working with public and private sector clients on energy and regulatory issues. He has represented energy companies, utilities, and government entities regarding state and federal electric, natural gas, and water utilities on regulatory matters as well as providing legal counsel for sophisticated transactions, electric and natural gas competitive initiatives, and complex regulatory proceedings.

In addition to his legal practice, Corey serves as chair of the board for BNE Energy Inc., which has successfully developed Wind Colebrook South, Connecticut’s first commercial wind project.

Corey said, “Joining the ranks of Barclay Damon’s incredibly talented attorneys is a source of pride for me. I know that their collective experience will be of great benefit to my industry contacts, and I hope that my background will be of similar benefit to the firm’s energy clients.”

Brenda Colella, Regulatory Practice Group leader, said, “Paul’s extensive experience in the energy and regulatory sector is a major win for us. The firm’s Energy Practice Area has been the focus of strategic growth efforts. Just last month, another energy partner, Matt Moses, joined our team as well.” She continued, “Our clients will benefit from having Paul’s knowledge, particularly his experience before state regulatory agencies in Connecticut as well as other states. We are excited to expand the depth of our regulatory and energy practice and our ability to serve clients on energy projects throughout the Northeast and the country.”

Lizz Acee, partner and managing director of the firm’s major market offices in Boston, New Haven, and New York City, said, “Barclay Damon is continuing its goal of strategically expanding its major markets offices. With the addition of Paul in New Haven, we’ve added four new attorneys in our major markets offices since the start of 2023. Expanding these offices allows Barclay Damon the opportunity to offer a wider range of services to clients across our platform.”

Barclay Damon attorneys team across offices and practices to provide customized, targeted solutions grounded in industry knowledge and a deep understanding of our clients’ businesses.
