Tim Green Releases 40th Book, Final Season, Available Now

September 14, 2021—Tim Green, a New York Times-bestselling author, former NFL defensive end, former Fox Sports broadcaster, and attorney with Barclay Damon LLP, has published his 40th book, Final Season (HarperCollins), available in stores and online now.

Final Season follows 12-year-old Ben, who struggles with peer pressure and his feelings about a girl. Ben, like his brothers, loves football, and he is the quarterback on the team his dad coaches. Ben’s dad is a retired NFL linebacker, and during the course of his football career, he suffered at least 10 concussions. After continued issues with his hands, Ben’s dad goes to see a neurologist. Ben worries that it’s chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, a progressive and fatal brain disease. The neurologist diagnoses Ben’s dad with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, which explains why he has been dropping things, slurring his speech, and falling. Ben is told that there is no cure and that his dad’s symptoms will only get worse. Ben wonders whether his dad will still be able to coach the football team.

Green’s 40th book is also his most personal novel and is largely based on real-life events. Green, who is a dedicated father, coach, and mentor, also has slow-progressing form of ALS. He is determined to continue writing for the kids who have been inspired by his stories—and for himself. Green is donating every dollar from the proceeds of Final Season to ALS research. He is committed to raising awareness for ALS while inspiring young people through his example and core values of family, perseverance, character, and gratitude.

In addition to being a bestselling author and retired defensive end with the Atlanta Falcons, Green is an attorney with Barclay Damon, where he has been integrally involved for the past 20 years in the development and growth of the firm's client base, particularly in energy, intellectual property, and national insurance coverage litigation. Green is recognized as a lead point of contact for the firm's largest energy and utility clients, including numerous Fortune 500 companies.

Connie Cahill, Barclay Damon’s managing partner, said, “Tim’s career as an author is astounding—40 books is quite the accomplishment! His willingness to write about a topic so personal to him is inspiring. I know this book was hard for him to write, both physically and emotionally. However, because of Tim’s bravery, this book will provide a vehicle for adults and kids to have an open discussion about ALS or any other difficult health issue.”

To date, Green has made more than 1,200 school visits and spoken to nearly 500,000 children. He places a strong emphasis on the importance of education, reading books, and good character. He wants kids to know that success should be measured by the quality of their personal relationships and kindness rather than fortune and fame. Since he began writing books for young-readers, Green’s sports-based series has sold over 1 million copies. Green continues to donate books to underprivileged kids, libraries, and schools across the United States.
