Hiscock & Barclay Names Three Attorneys to the Partnership

Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, announced the promotion of three attorneys to the position of Partner. Reflecting the firm's diversified platform, the new partners bring a varied range of experiences and perspectives to their areas of practice. The new partners include Sheila A. Gaddis (Rochester), Holly J. Hoehner (Syracuse) and William A. Hurst (Albany).

Sheila A. Gaddis is a Partner in the Firm's Rochester Office and is the Firm's newly appointed Diversity Partner. Gaddis has an extensive background in the area of non-profit law and administration. From her work as Executive Director at a children's agency in Alaska, to her present position as Executive Director of the Volunteer Legal Services Project of Monroe County, Inc., Gaddis is intimately familiar with the operations, programs, staff and fiscal management issues facing non-profits.

Gaddis is a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law and Brooklyn College. She is a frequent Panelist, Peer Consultant and Program Reviewer for the following entities: American Bar Association/National Legal Aid & Defender Association Center for Pro Bono, Monroe County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association Pro Bono Network, Federal Administration for Children & Families, Federal Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention, U.S. Department of Education, Safe and Drug Free Schools Program. She also sits on the New York State Bar Association, Special Committee on Funding for Civil Legal Services, Committee on Minorities in the Profession, Cy Pres Committee, and President's Access to Justice Committee.

Holly J. Hoehner is a Partner in the Firm's Syracuse Office and focuses on corporate, commercial and securities matters. She is experienced in drafting and negotiating agreements for all types of business transactions, including asset and stock purchase agreements, financing agreements, license agreements, leases, and consulting, nondisclosure, joint venture, research and development, clinical trial, and marketing and distribution agreements. She also specializes in ethics and corporate compliance matters, especially in the areas of healthcare fraud and abuse and federal lobbying and election law compliance.

Previously, Hoehner was Assistant General Counsel at Taro Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc., a publicly traded multinational pharmaceutical company. In addition to practicing in the above described areas, Hoehner designed, developed and implemented a worldwide ethics and corporate compliance program and served as chair of Taro's compliance committee. Hoehner is a graduate of Columbia University Law School and Cornell University. She currently sits on the Board of the Two Smiles One Hope Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to finding and fighting the causes of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

William A. Hurst is a Partner in the Firm's Albany Office and focuses on complex disputes involving corporate, commercial, land use and environmental matters. Hurst represents a broad spectrum of clients, as plaintiffs and defendants, in cases involving claims for breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, products disparagement, trademark and copyright infringement and antitrust matters. He also has extensive experience representing the media in cases involving access to judicial proceedings and records and other public access matters, and defending media clients from newsgathering and publication-related claims, including reporter's subpoenas. Hurst also represents municipalities, businesses and citizen's advocacy groups in environmental impact assessment, regulatory enforcement and environmental litigation arising under all of the major federal environmental laws and their state analogues, including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act ("CERCLA"), the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act ("RCRA"). Hurst is a graduate of Albany Law School of Union University and State University of New York College at New Paltz.
