The fading of one intellectual property boutique firm has propelled the expansion of Hiscock & Barclay's Intellectual Property Practice Group with the addition of patent attorneys Denis J. Sullivan and Michael J. Wasco. Denis Sullivan is the former managing partner of Marjama Muldoon Blasiak & Sullivan LLP, which ceased operations shortly after he announced his departure, along with Michael Wasco, one of the former firm's top Associates. Both lawyers are joining the Syracuse office of Hiscock & Barclay.
"While many Central New York companies struggle to find high-tech engineers, we consider ourselves fortunate to have found Denis and Mike, who are electrical and mechanical engineers as well as seasoned patent attorneys with an impressive track record of obtaining and defending patents and trademarks before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO)," said Hiscock & Barclay Managing Partner John P. Langan.
"Intellectual Property has been a major area of growth at our Firm where we now have more than 12 USPTO-admitted patent professionals holding advanced certifications in electrical, industrial, chemical and mechanical engineering, in addition to advanced degrees in organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, and life sciences. The expanded group has over 200 years of collective experience, prosecuting hundreds of patents annually for Fortune 500 companies and manufacturers. The Firm's Intellectual Property Group, which includes the Practice Areas of Branding, Trademark & Copyrights; Intellectual Property Litigation; and Patents & Prosecution, now totals 30 attorneys across our Northeast regional platform, boasting the largest IP group in Upstate New York," said Mr. Langan.
"The addition of Denis Sullivan enhances our growing national intellectual property litigation practice, which includes major market-trained IP litigation attorneys and seasoned trial lawyers. Denis will add to the Firm's bench, furthering our ability to service clients in New York district courts or elsewhere," said Michael Oropallo, Intellectual Property Practice Group Leader at Hiscock & Barclay.
