Hiscock & Barclay Announces Restructuring of Intellectual Property Practice Areas and Enhanced Leadership Team

Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, a full service 200-attorney law firm, announces the restructuring of its intellectual property (IP) practice and the enhancement of its leadership team of the new practice areas. In keeping with its commitment to provide clients with direct access to lawyers having expertise in the diverse sub-sets of intellectual property protection, the Firm has divided its IP practice into three focused Practice Areas: Branding, Trademarks & Copyrights; Patents & Prosecution; and Intellectual Property Litigation.

Michael A. Oropallo, a trial attorney with more than 20 years of IP experience, has been selected as Practice Group Leader to oversee these new IP Practice Areas and its lawyers.

Mark I. Peroff, a resident in the Firm's New York City Office, will chair the Branding, Trademarks & Copyrights Practice Area. The group will focus on assisting clients in protecting their brands, as well as commercializing and enforcing trademarks, trade dress, and copyrights in the U.S. and in more than 200 countries throughout the world.

Peter J. Bilinski and Thomas R. FitzGerald will co-chair the Patents & Prosecution Practice Area which handles the prosecution and enforcement of patents and all patent-related matters. Group members will utilize their extensive legal and technical experience to obtain patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign patent offices in keeping with the business goals of our clients.

Douglas J. Nash and Christopher E. Blank will co-chair the Firm's expanding Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Area which focuses on litigating intellectual property rights.

Members of the Firm's IP groups are active in many leading industry endeavors. In January 2010, Oropallo, Nash and Peroff were selected to chair and present on cutting-edge patent, trademark and copyright issues at the 2010 New York State Bar Association's Annual Meeting of the Intellectual Property Law Section. In March 2010, Mark Peroff and Darren Saunders attended the Annual Conference of the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group in Liverpool, England. In May 2010, the Firm's IP attorneys will be participating in the International Trademark Association Annual Conference in Boston.
