Source Renewables in the Spotlight: South Buffalo Community Solar Projects

Source Renewables, a vertically integrated renewable energy company, represented by Corey Auerbach, Land Use & Zoning Practice Area co-chair, has been featured in a number of articles, including those listed below. Source Renewables plans to develop two community solar projects on the Marilla Street Landfill in South Buffalo.

The company, with Corey’s assistance, has submitted an application for rezoning with the City of Buffalo to rezone the former landfill property to a distributed generation solar farm that will consist of two 5-MW solar arrays that will produce enough electricity to power over 2,500 households per year. These solar projects will create new jobs, provide the city with tax revenue, and generate savings for local Buffalo residents.

Previously, the landfill property was purchased in an effort to bring two Nicklaus-designed golf courses to Western New York. However, fundraising for the project slowed and Source Renewables saved the property from foreclosure.
