Rosanna Berardi, immigration counsel, was quoted in a story on Spectrum News, “Canada Plans to Loosen COVID-19 Testing Requirement at Border.” Earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic, it was difficult for Canadians to re-enter Canada. Rosanna said, “The rapid PCR tests were expensive. They’re around $200, so some people are like, ‘I’m just not going to do that,’ but now that that requirement is going to go away, I think it’s going to be great for border towns like Western New York, where we’ll see Canadians going to shopping and different events.”
The article notes that the required proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test will remain in place for Americans entering Canada. The separate openings of both countries’ borders and unclear rules surrounding COVID-19 testing requirements have made travel confusing for both Americans and Canadians.
