Barclay Damon Ranked Largest Law Firm in Western New York, Mark Whitford Interviewed on Recruitment Practices

The Daily Record and Rochester Business Journal have ranked Barclay Damon as the largest law firm in Western New York in their sixth annual “Western New York’s Largest Law Firms” survey. Law firms are ranked by the number of attorneys working in their offices located in Western New York. The survey includes other information, including firm demographics, number of partner-level lawyers, and starting salary for first-year associates.

Also included in this year’s survey publication was an article titled “Technology Playing a Larger Role in Legal Recruitment Practices,” which quoted several Western New York law firm leaders, including Mark Whitford, managing director of Barclay Damon’s Rochester office. The article notes that, while law firms continue to use traditional recruiting methods, they’re also incorporating new methods that gained steam as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the legal industry’s current approach to recruitment, Mark noted, “I think everything’s being done more on a virtual basis now. That includes recruiting new attorneys and younger associates, on campus interviews with summer associates are all done for the most part now virtually.” Mark highlighted that virtual recruiting is more efficient for Barclay Damon.
