Boston, Massachusetts - June 28, 2013 - Stephen H. Oleskey, Of Counsel at Hiscock & Barclay's Boston office, was honored by the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC) at its 30th Anniversary Gala on May 22.
Oleskey is a member of the firm's Commercial Litigation and Real Property Tax & Condemnation Practice Areas.
"Steve Oleskey teaches us every day that if one is true to oneself, achieving success at the bar is part of a life lived in enhancing the public interest," said MLAC Executive Director Lonnie Powers.
Oleskey served as Massachusetts Deputy Attorney General and Chief of the Public Protection Bureau in 1987 and 1988. He practiced with WilmerHale for more than 40 years. He was a member of the board of directors of MLAC from 1995 to 2005.
In 2007, Oleskey received the Boston Bar Association's President's Award for his representation of pro bono clients detained at Guantanamo Bay as well as a lifetime recognition award from the American Bar Association for his commitment to civil services for the poor and for the Guantanamo Bay representation. He was also featured in a 2008 article in TIME Magazine for his work at Guantanamo Bay.
