Respected Leader in Albany Legal Community Brings Labor & Employment Group to Barclay Damon

January 22, 2020—Barclay Damon announces Michael Murphy, a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, former president of the Federal Court Bar Association for the Northern District of New York, and former managing partner of the firm Carter Conboy, has joined the law firm as a partner, effective immediately. Murphy brings with him Brienna Christiano, who has joined as an associate, and Annette Bell, a paralegal with 12 years of experience, to round out the capabilities added to the firm’s growing labor and employment practice and Albany office. This location now offers 50 attorneys and other professionals to serve the legal needs of clients in the Capital Region and beyond.

Murphy’s group brings with it years of experience in federal and state court litigation on a wide array of issues, including general business litigation, health care controversies, and labor and employment trial work and counseling. All three members of the Murphy group are resident in Barclay Damon’s Albany office.

Connie Cahill, deputy managing partner of the firm, said, “We are pleased to welcome these great new additions to the firm and the Albany office and look forward to introducing our clients to Michael and Brienna, whose backgrounds and substantial experience will benefit our clients in numerous areas.”

Murphy represents businesses, governments, and community organizations locally and nationally in complex litigation with an emphasis on labor and employment, municipal, and civil rights and constitutional law. In addition to being a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a founding member and past president of the Federal Court Bar Association for the Northern District of New York, he is chair emeritus of ALFA International.

Christiano represents businesses, community organizations, municipal entities, and individuals in civil litigation, labor and employment law, and municipal law in federal, state, and appellate courts throughout New York State.

John Langan, managing partner, said, “The impressive growth of our Albany team includes recently adding banking and public finance attorneys Kevin Bezio, Alexis Clement, and Eric Brenner from Harris Beach in September. Additions like these benefit clients across our Northeast platform and the country while supporting key firm development strategies.”

Cahill added, “The members of the Barclay Damon Women’s Forum are thrilled to welcome Brienna along with Alexis Clement, Katie Markert, and Lauren Wachtler, who also recently joined us, as the newest members of our very active women’s group.”
