Marlette Re-Elected to Barclay Damon's Management Committee as Leader of Expanded Buffalo Office

BUFFALO, NY "” January 4, 2017 "” Peter S. Marlette, has been re-elected Managing Director of Barclay Damon's Buffalo office, after serving the past year and a half as co-Managing Director of the office with James P. Domagalski.

Peter was the former Managing Partner of Damon Morey and Jim was a former Managing Director of Hiscock & Barclay. Both partners came together in the joint leadership role in June, 2015 when the two legacy firms joined forces in a mega-deal that created Barclay Damon, the largest law firm in the Northeastern U.S. not located in a major market. Domagalski, whose seven-year term on the firm's Management Committee concluded on December 31, 2016, will move into the key strategic role of Marketing Partner for the 105-lawyer Buffalo office and will share those duties with Christopher A. Cardillo of legacy Damon Morey.

"I would like to thank Jim for his outstanding service as co-Managing Director of our Buffalo office," said John P. Langan, the firm's Managing Partner. "His leadership and contributions to the firm have been instrumental to the growth of our Upstate platform and in Western New York. We are excited to continue with Peter's leadership and benefit from his considerable understanding of the business and legal communities of Western New York. As a former Managing Partner, himself, Peter brings an impressive breadth of experience to the firm's Management Committee. Our Buffalo office remains in good hands."

"During and immediately following the merger," Marlette said, "firm leaders felt that having two Managing Directors, one from each legacy firm, work together to lead our newly largest office was imperative for the success of both the Buffalo office and the new firm. It was either insightful or lucky, possibly both, but we must have done something right as the firm posted record revenues and profits at the end of 2015 and again in 2016."

"Now that we have seen even greater success than we anticipated during our first year and a half as Barclay Damon, and as Jim approaches the end of his term limit as a Managing Director, our Buffalo office will return to the model the rest of our offices follow of being managed by a single Director," Langan said.

"As Peter transitions to the sole leadership role," Domagalski noted, "all the partners of the combined office look forward to his continued success for the substantial benefit of our clients and the firm."

Marlette devotes a substantial portion of his practice to the defense of high-exposure products liability and toxic substance litigation. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Georgetown University Law Center. Marlette was selected to Buffalo Business First's Legal Elite and "Power 250" in 2016 and is vice-chair the board of the Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority, a former chair of the board of directors Kaleida Health Foundation, and board member and a former president of the Buffalo Renaissance Foundation.

Domagalski is an experienced trial lawyer and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Syracuse University College of Law. Domagalski was selected to Buffalo Business First's Legal Elite in 2016 and leads the firm's Construction & Surety Practice Area. Domagalski is also very active in the Western New York community, including serving as a board member of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership; as former board member of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute Alliance; and as past chairman of the Erie County Republican Committee.

Listed as a "Top 250 Firm" by The National Law Journal, Barclay Damon is a full-service, 275-attorney law firm, with offices throughout the major cities of New York State and in Toronto, Boston, Washington, DC and Newark, NJ Barclay Damon provides comprehensive legal and business counsel to a diverse client base in 33 practice areas.
