March 2, 2021—Barclay Damon has launched its first podcast series, Barclay Damon Live: The Cannabis Counselor, Featuring Aleece Burgio. Aleece Burgio, the firm’s Cannabis Team leader, hosts the podcast, which will have weekly episodes ranging from 10 to 20 minutes and will cover topics relating to federal and state cannabis legislation and the cannabis industry generally. The Cannabis Counselor is intended for people looking to enter the cannabis industry, existing multistate operators, and anybody looking to become more knowledgeable on topics surrounding the legal cannabis industry. The Cannabis Counselor podcast is available on the firm’s website, YouTube, LinkedIn, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Play.
The podcast’s first episode breaks down key elements of the Cannabis Regulation Taxation Act (CRTA), a bill NYS Governor Cuomo has included in the state’s executive budget for the third time. If passed, the CRTA will legalize adult-use cannabis. Burgio details what the passage of the CRTA will mean for the cannabis industry. Burgio also delves into the issue that is at the forefront of many peoples’ minds, the Social Equity Fund, which aims to support people who have been disproportionately affected by the prohibition of cannabis.
“I am so excited to be the host of this podcast. My work as a cannabis attorney keeps things interesting, and I’m glad I can share what I know with people who are genuinely interested in the cannabis industry in New York State,” Burgio said. “We’re going to cover a lot of different topics and interview guests who can shed even more light on hemp, medical marijuana, and adult-use cannabis.”
Connie Cahill, the firm’s managing partner, said, “Aleece’s delivery of the subject matter is informative and highly enjoyable. You can’t help but feel as if you’re speaking to a friend about current cannabis industry goings on. The cannabis industry is burgeoning in New York State, and being able to report on the most current events sets Barclay Damon apart from its competitors. Aleece has reported that Upstate New York will likely be a popular location for the cannabis industry to settle should adult-use cannabis be legalized.”
Barclay Damon plans to launch additional podcasts under the Barclay Damon Live umbrella.
