Jim Canfield Interviewed for Buffalo Business First Article on Life Storage Merger

Jim Canfield, Corporate Practice Area co-chair, was interviewed for the Buffalo Business First article “Experts Weigh in on Potential Effects of Life Storage Acquisition,” about the Williamsville-based storage company’s pending merger with Salt Lake City–based Extra Space Storage Inc.

Life Storage does a great deal of business in Western New York. Its merger with Extra Space is intended to result in the growth of the platform. While Life Storage’s local footprint may not change much, Jim noted that many companies conduct administrative work in other locations.

The merger may result in more attention for the Western New York region as well as growth—both physical and financial—for both brands, positively impacting the local economy.

“It’s kudos to the Buffalo area to the extent that it’s nationally recognized that you can have companies like Life Storage that have grown up as local companies and become targets for acquisitions such as this,” Jim said.
