Trusts & Estates Paralegal (Rochester)

Barclay Damon LLP, a leading regional law firm of approximately 300 attorneys that operates from a strategic platform of offices located in Albany, Boston, Buffalo, New Haven, New York City, Rochester, Syracuse, Washington DC, and Toronto, is seeking a full-time trusts and estates paralegal. This position is part of a high-profile practice area and supports multiple attorneys. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to administering estates and trusts; preparing accountings, estate, gift, and income tax returns, and petitions, waivers, and other court-related documents; handling electronic filings; and communicating with clients, courts, and financial institutions.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional verbal, writing, organizational, and multitasking skills; professional demeanor; detail orientation; proactive work style; and the ability to work independently in a highly confidential environment are required.
  • Three-plus years of current trusts and estates experience and a two- or four-year degree or paralegal certificate (or a similar combination of work experience and education) are desired.
  • Strong financial skills (e.g., as evidenced by experience providing support in an accounting, commercial real estate, financial advisor, or brokerage environment) may be considered in lieu of the experience listed above.
  • Working knowledge of Excel (e.g., experience using computational formulas) and a strong aptitude with other Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with various tax or accounting software programs is a plus.
  • A hybrid work schedule may be possible after an in-office introductory period.

Salary Range: $70,000 to $100,000.

This salary range represents the firm’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for the position and does not include performance- or merit-based bonuses or other benefits offered by the firm. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, skill set, and office location.
