2025 1L Summer Associate Positions

Barclay Damon believes in the values of full and equal participation in the legal profession by all individuals and in eliminating bias in our industry. We believe it is vitally important that the attorneys at our firm reflect the diverse experiences, viewpoints, and backgrounds of our communities and clients. In furtherance of these values and as part of Barclay Damon’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiative, we offer paid summer internships to first-year law students who demonstrate a commitment to promoting DEI in their communities or within the legal profession.

Our 1L summer associates work with attorneys across the firm’s platform of offices and practice groups. They perform substantive legal work comparable to that provided to our 2L summer associates and our first-year attorneys and have opportunities to participate in a variety of networking, mentorship, and professional development programs. Our 1L summer associates accompany attorneys to client meetings, court appearances, hearings, depositions, and closings; gain experience in a wide range of matters and subject areas; and develop a realistic sense of what it’s like to be a practicing attorney at Barclay Damon.

Selection Criteria

The application process is open to all class of 2027 law students enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school regardless of race, color, religion, citizenship, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, military service, disability, or any other characteristics or condition protected by applicable law.

1L summer associates are expected to spend 11 weeks with Barclay Damon. The program starts May 27, 2025, and ends August 8, 2025.

Barclay Damon’s recruitment committee will evaluate all applications and consider the following:

  • Record of academic achievement.
  • Writing and communication skills.
  • Work and extracurricular experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting DEI in the applicant’s community or within the legal profession.
