Dr. James Tacci is a licensed and practicing physician as well as an attorney. His law practice focuses on providing a full spectrum of health law services, concentrating on regulatory compliance and corporate transactional issues. As a physician, Dr. Tacci is presently the Medical Director of the Rochester General Health System’s Department of Occupational Medicine, and has previously served as Corporate Medical Director for Xerox Corporation, and chief medical consultant to: Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation; Ginna Nuclear Power Plant; and Gleason Works. He holds a teaching appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, is a member of the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board’s Medical Advisory Committee, co-Chairs the Rochester Business Alliance’s Workers’ Compensation Committee, and is a member of the Monroe County (NY) Board of Health. He currently serves as the Vice-President of the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, and has previously served on the governing boards of the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Tacci is admitted to practice in New York and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of multiple legal and health organizations.

Representative Experience

  • Represented both physicians and corporations on compliance issues including HIPAA privacy rules, Stark laws, anti-kickback laws, EMTALA, not-for-profit law, professional credentialing, professional discipline and scope of practice regulations.
  • Represented clients on corporate transactional and governance issues including: mergers and acquisitions; dissolutions; professional services agreements; hospital-physician joint ventures; and medical staff bylaws.
