Lawyers from Hiscock and Barclay Take Part in NYSBA Annual Meeting

Hiscock & Barclay, LLP Partners, Douglas J. Nash, Michael A. Oropallo and Mark I. Peroff are chairing and presenting at the 2010 New York State Bar Association's Annual Meeting of the Intellectual Property Law Section, January 26th at the Hilton New York, in New York City. Oropallo, an Auburn, N.Y. resident, is Co-Chair of the event, which includes selection of topics and the coordination of speakers on cutting-edge patent, trademark and copyright issues. Nash, a Cicero, N.Y resident, is speaking on recent developments and patent cases decided by the Federal Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court. Peroff, a Hoboken, N.J. resident, is moderating a panel of international lawyers on trademark and copyright issues facing third parties such as internet service providers.

Oropallo has handled the litigation, trial and appeal of complex civil matters for the past twenty years. While focusing primarily on patent, trademark, copyright counsel and litigation as well as environmental litigation and toxic tort matters, he has a wide breadth of federal and state jury trial experience and regularly counsels clients on litigation and non-litigation alternatives to legal disputes. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York Bar Association (an Executive Committee member of the Intellectual Property Section), the International Trademark Association, the Copyright Society, and regularly authors articles and lectures on such topics as trial tactics, intellectual property litigation, and complex environmental litigation issues.

Nash is the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group Leader and Co-Chair of the Firm's Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Area. Nash focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, including patent, trademark and trade secret litigation. He has experience representing clients in class action lawsuits, and in cases involving patent or trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, antitrust violations, unfair competition, breaches of fiduciary duty, shareholder suits, and employment disputes. In addition, Nash has experience representing energy clients and clients from other industries in civil fraud cases and cases involving large-scale real property and water rights disputes.

Peroff is a veteran of the intellectual property field practicing in the areas of domestic and global trademark, trade dress, copyright, false advertising, unfair competition, rights of privacy and publicity, parody, media and Internet-related matters. He represents clients before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, advising clients that range from multinational companies to not-for-profit organizations to entrepreneurs, spanning practically every field of commerce. Peroff is Co-Chair of Hiscock & Barclay's Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Area. He is also a founding partner of Trademark & Patent Counselors of America, P.C. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Peroff was an Examiner with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
