Hiscock & Barclay Announces Affiliation with Former U.S. Attorney and Formation of White Collar Practice
Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, a full service 200-attorney law firm, announces that former United States Attorney, Daniel J. French, and his partner, Lee Alcott, have joined the firm as Of Counsel, and that the firm has formed a new White Collar Defense & Government Investigations Practice Area that will be co-chaired by French and Gabriel M. Nugent, a partner at the Firm. While supporting firm clients in their new Of Counsel roles, French and Alcott - who has more than 30 years of experience in civil litigation - will remain principals of their existing firm, French-Alcott, PLLC.
“With his experience as a U.S. Attorney and criminal defense lawyer, Dan French has a reputation in the white collar arena that few attorneys can match, not just in Upstate New York, but anywhere. So, this affiliation is a major coup for us,” said Hiscock & Barclay Managing Partner, John P. Langan. According to Langan, “The Firm’s white collar practice has grown rapidly in the last five years, setting us apart from many of our competitors who have lost depth in this area. Adding Dan to our team gives us a unique level of depth and experience in the white collar area, while providing additional support in the areas of health care, tax, and environmental, among others.” According to Gerald F. Stack, Managing Director of the Firm’s Syracuse office, where French-Alcott is located, “With a changing regulatory environment and ever more aggressive government enforcement, we have seen a steady increase in the number of clients who come to us seeking advice and counseling on white collar issues. In response, we have added attorneys with a criminal defense background. Our affiliation with Dan French and Lee Alcott adds a new dimension to this effort.”
“With its experience representing clients in white collar matters and government investigations, Hiscock & Barclay has built a practice that is unique among law firms in the field,” stated French. Attorneys in the practice area include former Assistant District Attorneys, a former Regional Director of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and others with unique experience defending those faced with state and federal investigations and prosecutions. The Firm’s attorneys represent clients in criminal defense matters, government and regulatory investigations and parallel civil or administrative litigation that is more frequently associated with criminal investigations. The Firm also advises and trains clients on compliance issues in a variety of areas.
Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, listed as a “Top 250 Firm” by The National Law Journal, is a full-service, 200-attorney law firm, with offices throughout the major cities of New York State, as well as in Boston, Washington, D.C. and Toronto, providing comprehensive legal and business counsel to a diverse client base in 31 practice areas.
