Firm Re-Elects John Langan Managing Partner and Gerald Stack Syracuse Office Managing Director

Hiscock & Barclay, LLP has re-elected John Langan to his fourth term as Managing Partner of the 210-attorney law firm. Langan is resident in both the firm's New York and Syracuse offices. Additionally, Gerald Stack has been re-elected as Managing Director of the firm's Syracuse office where he will also serve with Langan on the firm's Management Committee.

Since Langan's appointment as Managing Partner almost a decade ago, the firm has expanded from 65 attorneys to its present size and established true regional prominence. After building a unique platform of significant offices throughout Upstate New York the firm embarked on a Northeast corridor strategy that takes advantage of its lower cost structure and proximity to larger markets to establish offices in nearby major cities, including Toronto, Boston, New York and Washington D.C. In 2005, Langan also implemented an aggressive plan that restructured the firm into practice groups that house similar client service offerings for better management and quality assurance.

"I am proud of our partners and their commitment to the principles of our profession while being adaptive to the dramatic changes in the business of practicing law. Our clients have responded with great appreciation for our dedication to excellence as we strive to attract and develop world-class lawyers and practices. We have the platform and capabilities to serve clients throughout the Northeast and across the country," said Langan. "I'm delighted to be working alongside Gerry Stack, and I look forward to working together as we lead our firm through these changing times."

Langan, who has served on the firm's management committee for the past 12 years, is an experienced trial lawyer, whose practice focuses on commercial and business litigation. In both state and federal courts, Langan represents corporate and individual clients in a wide array of business disputes involving fraud, breach of contract, and other claims. He is also a frequent national lecturer on law firm leadership and the implementation of better management practices in the profession.

A graduate of St. John's University Law School (J.D., 1987) and Colgate University (B.A. 1984), Langan is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Onondaga Bar Association, and the Metropolitan Development Association's board of directors and executive committee.

Stack joined the firm in 2006. This will be his second term as Syracuse's Managing Director and a member of the firm's Management Committee. Stack practices in the areas of tax, corporate and estate planning. Stack possesses more than 25 years of experience counseling clients on such matters as advanced like-kind exchanges, reorganizations, partnership tax issues, and multi-state commercial real estate transactions with significant tax and financial implications. He is a frequent lecturer on various tax and business matters and has been named to the Best Lawyers in America for ten straight years. He is Chair of the firm's Tax Practice Area.

Stack, a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law (J.D., 1980), University of Florida, Levin College of Law, (L.L.M. in Taxation, 1981) and LeMoyne College (B.A., 1975), is a member of the New York State Bar Association and Onondaga County Bar Association.
