Couple Spared Wife’s Deportation When Immigration Judge is Convinced Their Marriage is Real.
A Jamaica-born woman who had been married to and living in America with her U.S. citizen husband for six years applied for permanent resident status in the United States but was turned down by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials.
Fearing her deportation, the couple contacted Barclay Damon. Our attorneys took the matter to a full administrative hearing where they presented evidence that the two had created a life together financially, emotionally, and as a family. The evidence included financial records such as jointly filed tax returns, affidavits from family and friends stating that the marriage was authentic, and testimony from the couple themselves.
The Immigration Judge was convinced, and the woman was granted Lawful Permanent Residence and her unconditional “Green Card”. The couple can now pursue their life together unencumbered by the fear of her deportation.
